Save Articles to Instapaper Folders in a Snap

Instapaper is my favorite reading tool. It’s not just for web articles. I have saved for later countless image galleries and videos as well. It’s the reading repository for all consumable media; work related study and personal entertainment.

The new version improves all the features. Instapaper got a new look just a few weeks ago. The developers frequently improve the interface, ridding it of glitches and streamlining the toolset. I think the latest version is my favorite, as it offers the cleanest style and reading experience yet.

Bookmarklets are the way to go. You could have two or ten Instapaper folders, and adding their bookmarks to your bookmarks bar would be a time saver. On the surface, it may appear tedious to organize the bookmarks as I have into a browser folder, but the time up front will save lots of time later. I don’t need to think about their order in my Instapaper “inbox” (the Home page of Instapaper) since I already have them categorized.

This saves me time when I want to focus reading on work-related skills, or topical subjects that I like to review (like coffee, the arts, the latest in gaming tech…).

Name your folder in the Favorites Bar whatever you like. In my video, I named the drop down folder “Instapaper.” This may lead to a little confusion if you have another bookmark for Instapaper’s site. I would recommend you name the bookmark’s folder something else, like Save To… so it’s easy to spot in your bar.
