Google changed their logo style today. What used to be a distinctive serif type of the word ‘Google’ is now sans-serif. And now, what used to be used for a ‘g’ monogram is now a capital “G” monogram.
People mostly like the change, it seems. Personally, I don’t think this face change was the way to go. Google made the new lettering custom with their logo in mind, and they call it Product Sans. Honestly, it looks almost identical to thousands of other sans-serif typefaces. What’s supposed to represent creativity looks a little too generic.
In a very subjective sense, this logo feels friendlier and more youthful than its predecessor. I didn’t know that those were virtues Google needed to stress at this time. ∞
